TAV Houston Developmental Program

The goal of our Developmental Program is to provide a fun atmosphere, while introducing young athletes the game of volleyball. As players move through the program, they will be introduced to a strong foundation of volleyball techniques accompanied by encouraging instruction in a fun and positive environment. Each level provides a snapshot into the club volleyball world, better preparing players and parents to make a decision on whether volleyball is their sport, or not. We break the Developmental Program into three specific groups defined below. Each group has criteria that is required to meet in order to advance from one to the next. New program participants will be evaluated prior to placement to a specific group.

TAV Juniors – Designed for young athletes, typically five to eight years old, that are interested in playing volleyball and have little, to no experience. This program is typically six weeks long per session, practicing once per week for 90 minutes at a time and will have one coach for every six players. Our Volley Tots program will introduce all fundamental volleyball skills in a positive and fun environment.

TAV Futures – Typically for young athletes with some volleyball experience and between the ages of eight and ten years old. Exceptions are allowed to this with approval by the TAV Houston staff. Juniors will practice once per week for 120 minutes at a time and will have one coach for every eight players.

TAV Club Prep – Perfect for players that have a strong interest in volleyball and are preparing to play club volleyball in the near future. Players must have prior experience playing volleyball to qualify for this program, and must be evaluated in order to participate. This program should result in each participant wanting to play club volleyball is afforded the opportunity to do so. Practices will be challenging, yet informative and the season runs parallel with the club season in order to give players, and parents, an idea of how the club volleyball season is without the travel and tourney commitments.
