TAV Houston Beach Information
The TAV Houston Beach program is specifically designed to cater to all types of volleyball players: Players only interested in indoor, indoor players that are interested in beach and also players that have decided to pursue playing beach in College - the fastest growing NCAA sport in the country. Beach volleyball is a great way to improve stability and strengthen core muscle groups that not only improve speed and your vertical but also help with injury prevention.
All practices will be energetic, highly focused on game play and extremely rewarding. Players will learn the rules of beach as well as strategies that will help players be successful.
2020 Fall Beach Session
Join us for our Fall 2020 Mini Beach Camp starting Mondays and Wednesdays. 11U - 14U will begin at 6pm - 7:30 and 15U - 18U from 7:30 - 9pm. The Fall session starts October 5th and will finish up the Fall season November 18th, 2020. Early Registrants get 20% off full registration up until October 4th!!
TAV Houston Beach Coaching Staff
Coach Bryan Bunn
Bryan Bunn has 28 years in college coaching, 19 as a head coach at the DI, DII and NAIA levels with an overall record of 443-205. His programs have won 7 conference championships and produced 19 All-Americans. As head coach at NC State, Bunn led the Wolfpack to their first NCAA tournament bid in 25 years. He had more ACC wins in 6 years as head coach than the program had from 1990-2009 and holds the record for most ACC wins in program history. The program produced the only All American in school history in 2012. As associate head coach at Baylor University, he helped lead the team to a Sweet 16 appearance in 2009, upsetting highly ranked UCLA on their home court. They also produced 4 first team All-Big XII selections, two All-Americans and program’s 2nd and 3rd best conference records in school history. As head coach at the University of North Florida, Bunn led the program to 5 conference championships, a 63 match conference win streak, 5 NCAA post season appearances and left as the winningest coach in any sport in school history. Bunn is one of the Top 30 Winningest Coaches of All time in NCAA with a minimum of 5 years Division I experience (.683).
An experienced sand player, he has been playing beach doubles competitively and for fun since 1986. With playing experience on the AVP tour, Bud Light Tour, EVP, Mikasa Tour and over 20 wins at the Open level, he has years of high level experience in the sand game.
Coach Tara Jenkins
Over 12 years of playing experience and competing in indoor club volleyball. 5 years of beach volleyball experience. Won GJNC in 2011. Qualified for nationals every year except for two. Third at Beach Nationals in 2011. MVP setter for the District in high school. All-Star Tournament MVP 2015. Recruited as a setter to play D1 indoor and beach volleyball at University of Louisiana Monroe. Competed in the Sunbelt conference for four years indoor and two years of beach volleyball. Coached beach and developmental programs at TAV Houston for the past 4 years. Coached 14 Black last year with Luis and 13 Black this year with Bill Jenkins.
Coach Ryan Storck
"I have over 25 years of coaching indoors volleyball. This will be my 3rd year coaching beach, in which I have 20 years of competitive play.
Fun facts about me: I used to play volleyball tournaments on Saturdays and paintball tournaments on Sundays. This will be my 6th year at TAV Houston.
I believe in laying a strong foundation of basics at a young age - without such mastery of advanced skills will never happen."
Coach Shanna Hees
This is my third season coaching indoor and beach for TAV Houston. I have also been an assistant middle school volleyball coach for two years.
Fun facts: In my free time i love to play beach volleyball, travel, camp, and spend time at my horse. I am currently in school for gemology.
I love how beach helps the girls to get better at every aspect of the game and become great all around players.
NextLevel Club Beach
NextLevel Club Beach is designed for the series beach volleyball player and will be offered in three different sessions: 1) Strength, Conditioning & Development (Sept-Dec), 2) Pre-season Prep (Jan-Apr) and 3) Tourney Season (May-Aug). Practice sessions will have no more than three total teams (6 players) for every one coach. Practices will be energetic, highly focused on game play and extremely rewarding. Coaches will also travel to sand tournaments. TAV will set the schedules and cover the direct costs included with the local tournaments. In addition to this, there will be open court time for this group so the players can get some extra work in if so desired. All coaches will be highly trained with significant beach experience.
TAV Beach Training Series
This program is great for any type of volleyball player: the indoor only player, the beach only player or the hybrid indoor/ beach player. This program is an introductory program for players that may be interested in beach, or for indoor players that want a fun way to decrease their risk of sports injury and increase their verticals for the indoor season. There will be coaches at a 1:8 coach to player ratio running drills and facilitating a practice plan.
TAV Beach A
An introductory program for players that have little, to no experience with beach volleyball. Any player over the age of nine is encouraged to participate. We will focus on the fundamental skills required to play beach volleyball. This program will be extremely fun and a great way to introduce your child to beach volleyball.
TAV Beach AA
AA is for players that have at least one year of previous experience on the beach, or at least three years of indoor experience. AA players will go through reinforcement of necessary fundamentals of beach volleyball while the staff introduces drills that promote tournament play. Practices will be high energy, fun and will educate players on rules & regulations of USAV Beach.
TAV Beach AAA
AAA is for players that have at least three years of previous experience on the beach, or at least four years of indoor experience. AAA players will spend half of their practices on game-play drills and fundamentals and the second half competing against other players in the session.
